Busch Gardens Tampa Bay theme park has a newborn giraffe which will join other animals in the Serengeti Plain

According to sources from the Busch Garden park in florida, a new baby giraffe of 67 kilos weight was born, being the offspring of Teesa (the mother) and Sterling (the father). This new birth increases the number of giraffes of the park to fifteen specimens.
Now Tessa and her newborn baby are located in a special area not to be disturbed and where visitors are not allowed. The zoo authorities are monitoring them closely to be sure that the small giraffe suckles properly. In few months the couple of giraffes will join other African animals in the Serengeti Plain, where zebras, antelopes, and white rhinoceros move freely in a natural habitat that has 65 acres of extension.
Giraffes are the tallest animals among all the species of living land animals. The giraffe’s gestation takes 15 months and the babies are suckled for a year. Several members of the family take part in the looking after of the newborn babies. Some hours after their birth, babies can run and cannot be distinguished from a one-week-old baby. During the first two weeks, giraffe babies spend most of their time lying down and being protected by their mothers.
Sources form the park stated that they are expecting for this summer the birth of another giraffe baby. These births are part of a successful breeding and growing up program developed for many years by the Busch Gardens Park.

Visitors to the Busch Gardens Tampa can take a look at the inhabitants of the Serengeti Plain taking a tour onboard the Serengeti Express, taking a panoramic tour on the highs on the Skyride, or getting on an open truck in the Serengeti Safari tour. During these tours, visitors can have a close look to the giraffes and feed them with their hands.
